The Making Process

Sabari Sen
Sabari Sen

Most of her works are hand thrown on a potter’s wheel using a smooth, white-bodied stoneware clay which has an Eastern infl uence giving a distinctive look to the piece. Once dried and leather hard, she initially trims them and then does her favourite part, the surface design.

The bands of design are created individually with simple pottery tools.
The surface design takes patience and a very steady hand. Her ceramic pieces go through a process of two firings which matures them between 1160°C and 1280°C.
